A higher score means more answers matched our custom scoring for narcissistic tendencies. Green does not prove an absence of narcissistic traits.
What shaped your score?
The research and how we score it
Our hybrid combines 10 original scenarios with 10 adapted public-domain IPIP items. NPI-16 research informs the concepts of recognition and entitlement; this quiz does not reproduce or administer the NPI-16. IPIP rigidity items inform our custom defensiveness category, and callousness items inform consideration of others.
Each question has a maximum of 3 points. Scenario choices receive 0, 1.5, or 3; everyday choices receive 0, 1, 2, or 3, reversing negatively worded items. Consideration points run positively in the breakdown and are subtracted from their maximum for the main score. We add the contributions from all 20 questions, divide by 60, and multiply by 10, rounding to one decimal. Both question types carry half the available points.
This selection, four-choice format, category mapping, and combined score are original and have not been scientifically validated. Score groupings are editorial, not clinical cutoffs or population percentiles. Ten adapted items are not complete IPIP scales, and evidence for those scales does not validate this quiz. A single preference, a firm boundary, or low consideration score cannot establish narcissism.
